A little about Bistro Les Gras and our Sustainable French Cuisine...

At Bistro Les Gras we offer the finest farm to table dining in the Pioneer Valley.  Located minutes away from fertile farmland we work with an amazing group of farmers and ranchers to assure that you are eating the finest and freshest produce as well as the highest quality free-range meats.  For a list of our farms check out our "Farms and Friends" page.

Our menu changes as the produce does to ensure we are using the freshest produce when it's at its peak. Almost everything served at Bistro Les Gras is made in house from scratch, from our baguettes and fresh churned butter to our ketchup and bacon.  We even get in whole animals, butcher them ourselves and make sure every last part is used.

Our kitchen is led by Chef Daniel Martinez, a classically trained young chef.  He has worked in some of the finest restaurants in New York City and brings that experience to his cuisine at Bistro Les Gras.

In addition to our nightly dinning menu, we have a bar menu with comforting dishes such as moules frites and our famous Burger Les Gras.  We also have a french tapas bar located just inside the restaurant serving items like charcuterie, artisan cheeses and poutine.

We have a number of special events including monthly wine dinners and weekly specials.  Check out our "Events" page for more information.

What does "Les Gras" mean?

People have been asking why we named the restaurant Bistro Les Gras.  First and foremost it is the name of a beautiful village in the southeast of France bordering Switzerland.  We have been trying to visit Les Gras for a number of years with no avail.  In honor of our efforts, we have decided to bring a little bit of Les Gras to Northampton.

Les Gras also means "the fats," in terms of culinary uses.  We love the tongue and cheek aspect and decided to run with it, especially since we shy away from cream and butter and like the fresh ingredient to shine.
